The Steller sea lions live in the Pribilof Islands exhibit, which consists of three pools, and is designed to recreate the natural setting of California’s coast and the Pribilof Islands, four islands in the Bering Sea that are part of Alaska.
Eden and Mara are the exhibit’s two newest residents. The two female Stellers arrived from Vancouver Aquarium in October 2008. They are here on a loan for the purposes of research, education and public display until October 2013, with the opportunity to extend their stay based on the management needs for the species. Mystic Aquarium & Institute for Exploration is one of only four facilities in North America to house the Steller sea lion. |
